Recently, my husband Logan and I felt led to fast as we faced big decisions about finances and family, with no clear answers in sight. The only solution was Him, and we were desperate for His presence—clinging to the promise in Matthew 7:9–11, that our Father gives good gifts to those who ask. During that time, Logan received a vision of hands breaking a fish in two—symbolizing provision—and we were filled with peace, ready to receive whatever God had for us.

The Scripture
“…that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face. And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.”
Matthew 6:16-18
“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

“Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, ‘Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?’ He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, ‘Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.’ One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, ‘There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?’ Jesus said, ‘Have the people sit down.’ Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, ‘Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.’ So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, ‘This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!’”
